Your Body is Your Race Car, Fuel it Like One.

The title of this post may be confusing at first. After all, what does your body have to do with a race car? The idea behind this article is of high importance. It is paramount for all individuals to understand nutrition. Most individuals tend to get one half of the equation correct. They will exercise regularly, with proper structure and great form. However, they will let themselves down with their nutrition. These are the same people who complain about not getting results even after months of working hard in the gym.

In today's world, social media promotes a mindset where you constantly work with "no days off". Everyone is trying to be the hardest workers in the room without realizing they should be the smartest workers in the room. As a result of such a lifestyle, these individuals often experience burnout, crashes, and days where they do not feel good about themselves. Ever wonder why an F1 racecar driver does not fuel his car with regular fuel? The driver would only put the highest quality fuel in his car because he/she wants to maximize performance. That is because F1 drivers understand the need for high-quality fuel as it puts them in the best position to succeed. The same principle applies to your body. Your body is your race car, start treating it like one. If you do not fuel your body properly. It will break down, crash and be unresponsive to your efforts.

Nutrition

Nutrition is fueling your body with the right foods, the right number of calories at the correct times. Adding greens and vegetables to your meals, having delicious fruits throughout the day, and eating healthy lean protein are just some of the things that make up an overall healthy lifestyle. Making sure you eat healthy carbs to fuel your workouts, incorporating whole-grain foods will only help your body in the long run. Drinking plenty of water. To hydrate your muscles, your skin and your organs is an essential part of nutrition as well.

The most important lesson we need to learn is that getting in shape or having a fitness-oriented lifestyle is not just about going hard in the gym. It is about balancing all the other wheels of the car to make sure it runs smoothly. Putting pressure on one of the wheels will cause it to break down. Thus, it is imperative to focus on other aspects of fitness. Nutrition is more than just calories in and calories out. The type of calories consumed also make a difference in your body and how it reacts. Healthy foods/healthy calories will always have a profound effect on your body because of their nutrient-dense nature. Pick your foods wisely.

The Long Run

Lastly, we must be in it for the long run. Like F1 drivers, we must look to win the whole race, not a single lap. Being good for a single lap or a single day does not entail greatness. Rather, being consistent, being self-aware, and giving your body pitstops at the right time will ensure you do not lose this race.
